Delta libraries offer a variety of in-library programs, but they are not without some online programs too.

As winter hunkers down, the Delta Libraries continue to offer free programs.

Are you wanting to improve your English? Register for the online Conversation Circle happening on Wednesdays, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. To register, visit the events page at www.fvrl.ca.

Do you love trying new recipes then sharing with others? Check out Ladner Pioneer Library’s Cookbook Book Club.

November’s theme will be Greek Cuisine. Library staff will provide you with cookbooks to inspire you. At home, try one or two recipes, then in the club meeting on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 2 to 3 p.m., we will share our cooking adventures with the group. Registration required.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, the theme will be holiday treats.

New to computers or need to update your skills? Join us at the Ladner Pioneer Library to learn Computer Basics on Sundays, Nov. 20 and 27, from 9:45 to 11 a.m. Explore internet searching, email set up and navigation, document creation and processing, and FVRL digital content. Bringing a computer is not necessary. Registration is required.

Looking for creative inspiration? Join fellow artists and crafters to learn new techniques and ways of making at Creative Collaboration on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library. This month’s theme is painting. All activities are sourced from FVRL’s Kanopy or CreativeBug resources. We will investigate different materials, methods, resources, art makers, and share our results. Basic materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring painting or drawing materials if preferred. All experience levels welcome. Ages 12-plus. Registration required. The theme on Sunday, Dec. 18 is collage and card making.

Newcomers looking for work or adults wanting to make a change may be interested in registering for Career Resources on Monday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library. Search strategies, writing tips for applications and resumes, and time management will be discussed. Stay up to date using FVRL resources, such as: BC Codes, LinkedIn Learning, Mango Language and Small Business Accelerator. Discover how FVRL services is a place to prepare your documents. Register for Game On: Board Games for Teens on Thursday, Nov. 24, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library. Come to the library for board games and creative activities. Games and some art supplies provided. Ages 12-plus. Registration required.

Are you a crafty teen? Join us for Teen Paper Crafts on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library to learn and share techniques about paper artistry. Each month will have a paper craft themed idea. We will talk about different materials, methods, resources, art makers, and share our results! All experience levels welcome. Suggested age 12-plus. Registration is required.

What is the meaning of an idiom? Put Your Game Face On and have fun while learning the origins of phrases that are a part of everyday life. Register for this online program happening on Monday, Dec. 5 from 3:15 to 4 p.m. You will be challenged to explain the meaning of a number of idioms - you'll either be hitting the nail on the head or barking up the wrong tree, but you'll definitely be laughing your head off!  As a group, we will discuss our own idiom experiences. All ages welcome. Registration required.

Death Café returns to the Ladner Pioneer Library on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat sweets, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. Registration is required.

Calling all young writers! Join us online on Monday, Dec. 19, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. and explore your imagination and develop your creative writing skills at Young Writers. There will be creative writing activities, story games, and writing challenges. A program for children ages nine to 12. Registration required.
