Winskill Park will be filled with all kinds of activities for the kids for the Tsawwassen Sun Festival.

The B.C. Day long weekend is almost upon us and in South Delta that means the Tsawwassen Sun Festival is just a few days away.

"We have an amazing committee that's working really hard to bring it all together. I think it's going to be an amazing weekend, as usual," says Sun Festival coordinator Elaine Campbell.

The festival, which marks its 45th anniversary this year, begins Saturday, carries on through Sunday and has a fun-filled schedule planned for the holiday Monday, including a classic car show, Rotary Club of Tsawwassen parade down 56th Street, main stage entertainment and a Kid's Funzone ($10 for an all-day pass) at Winskill Park.

"It's going to be fun," she says.

A talent show marks a new addition to the festival this year. Delta's Got Talent takes place Monday afternoon on the mainstage in Winskill Park.

A favourite highlight of Sun Festival, the parade is set for Monday at 11 a.m. The route will see the entries from various community groups and organizations travel south along the west side of 56th Street from 16th Avenue to Winskill Park, which will be filled with activities.

A variety of food options will be available at the park, including poutine, donairs, kebabs, fish and chips, hotdogs, pizza, Indian cuisine and the TOOBs'famous curly fries, notes Campbell.

There will also be a pancake breakfast on Monday from 8 to 11 a.m.

Sun Festival will also include a beer garden.

Saturday features a volleyball tournament, skateboard competition, bingo at KinVillage and the start of the three-day softball tourney.

An antique fair begins Sunday and carries into Monday at the South Delta Recreation Centre.

A drive-in movie is set for Sunday night at Beach Grove Elementary.

There will also be lawn bowling at the festival with the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Sunfest Mixed Open Triples starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday at Winskill Park.
