On March 12, Hawthorne Elementary was awarded the Top First Time School Award by HUB Cycling in its 11th Annual Bike Awards.
More than 330 students and six staff participated in Bike to School Week, which took place in May 2023. They recorded a grand total of 1,112 trips.
“Students used The Decision Playbook, written by Brooke Moore, District Principal – Learning Services, to plan the best way to promote participation in the challenge,” said teacher Heather Mack. “It was great to see so many students excited to participate and work towards a common goal while at the same time being physically active.”
