The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen is pleased to announce that the Hope & Healing Benefit, presented by KSW Lawyers, raised $35,000.

On Sunday, Feb. 25, 200 people came to the sold-out event at KinVillage, which featured traditional Ukrainian dancers from Kvitka Dance School, sponsored by GCT Deltaport.

“Thank you to the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen for raising money for older persons both locally and internationally,” said KinVillage CEO Dan Levitt. “Together, we will achieve our collective goal to ensure the human rights older adults to live life to the fullest.”

The evening also featured video presentations from HelpAge International telling the story of how older people and people with disabilities in Ukraine are often unable to flee from conflict and are left alone without family or their wider community. Isolated, without loved ones and cut off from support, they are particularly exposed when violence breaks out, as they may not be able to shelter from danger.

The funds raised at Hope and Healing that are designated for HelpAge’s Ukrainian effort will support almost 300 people working to deliver food, comfort, medicine and hygiene to older people, their families, and communities.

“We would like to thank everyone involved in making our event a success, including our committee co-chairs, Tom Smith and Larry Hagan,” says Yvonne Anderson, president of the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen. “We have the deepest gratitude for our sponsors, donors, and attendees and to KinVillage for hosting us. We are so grateful to our community who helped make a difference in the lives of seniors.”
