The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen recently helped out with relief efforts in the Philippines with a big shipment of clothing and blankets.

Rotarian Shane Todhunter said his wife Jennifer put up a post on the South Delta Swap and Shop Facebook page about the effort and the response from the community was

amazing.

"It blew our minds," he said.

"We were at the Delta Chamber awards that night and my wife's phone kept buzzing literally every three minutes when somebody else would say, 'We'd love to donate some stuff.'" He said within two days more than 50 people had responded to the post and

the donations filled up half of their garage and eventually the Rotary club's eightfoot trailer.

The items were taken to the Rotary World Help Network's distribution centre in Coquitlam before leaving for the Philippines last Sunday.

The country was rocked by a major typhoon last month that killed thousands.
