Staff at the North Delta Community Animal shelter receive home-made toys to bring some joy to animals awaiting their forever-homes.

Editor’s note: This is the eighth article in a student writing project from the students of Mary Messer’s class at Gray Elementary in North Delta. The stories reflect community projects that students have done to improve the lives of others throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The articles run once a week on the Optimist website.

We made toys for animals at the animal shelter.

The animals we did help are cats and dogs. We finished and gave the toys to the animal shelter. We had made four toys for cats and five for dogs.

We made toys to improve their life. We have learned to sew to make the toys. The two toys we made were loud and four toys smelled good.

We are helping animals because there are so many animals in the world that have been abandoned or mistreated, so we made a difference to make a few happy.

We wanted to help dogs and cats that think all hope is lost but show them they are still loved.
