On Dec. 31 a friend sent me this message - 2024 is almost here! My New Year’s wish for you is 12 months of happiness, 52 weeks of fun and laughter, 365 days of success, 8,760 hours of good health, 525,600 minutes of blessings, 31,536,000 seconds of Joy. Amen!
No matter how beautiful this message was, it got me thinking of all the things that I failed to achieve in 2023. I thought this message was just a pie in the sky. When I read it again the presence of the word Amen restored my crushed spirit.
My mind rushed to Jeremiah 29:10- 11-This is what the LORD says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
My friend wished me restoration and renewal.
So, my wish in 2024, is for us to be renewed in Christ. Whatever happened in 2023 - wounds, pain, fatigue, Jesus is here to re-energise us!
In our weakness, he invites us: “Come unto me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest!”
In our different kinds of thirst, he invites us: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and let the one who believes in me drink!”
In our various hungers, he invites us to come and feed on him, the bread that came down from heaven, to give life to the world. That my friends, is our true restoration.
