The Delta Division of Family Practice in partnership with Fraser Health have a COVID-19 testing and collection site the Delta South Home Health Office in Ladner, located beside city hall.

The number of people confirmed infected with COVID-19 in Delta inched downward recently.

According to the most recent B.C. Centre for Disease Control’s weekly community map, which covers the period Dec. 20 to 26, it indicated Delta had 116 cases, Surrey had 971 cases and Richmond had 114 cases.

The Delta numbers that have been reported have not been broken down to the communities of Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta.

In a recent letter to Premier John Horgan, Delta Mayor George Harvie said a better understanding of COVID-19 community transmission levels would help cities like Delta make more informed decisions when it comes to facilities and safety plans.

“As municipalities, we are committed and uniquely positioned to supporting senior governments, residents, businesses and other stakeholders during the challenges of the pandemic. To perform these functions effectively, we need more granular and frequent data,” Harvie said.

He added more detailed local COVID-19 data would help guide city decision-making and resource allocation while working with businesses and community organizations as they try to stay open, and economically viable, but safe.
