The former Tsawwassen resident who fled the country in the face of several sex-related charges has been remanded in custody until a court hearing next week.
Jamieson Richard (Rick) Glendinning was taken into custody by Delta police investigators at Vancouver International Airport last Friday after he was deported from Australia.
Glendinning appeared before the court last Friday afternoon and will remain in custody until a Nov. 20 hearing in Surrey provincial court.
He is currently facing several charges, including indecent assault, gross indecency, sexual assault, failing to attend court and breach of recognizance.
On June 11, a warrant was issued for Glendinning's arrest after he failed to attend court in Surrey. He was subsequently located in Sydney, Australia in October, where he was arrested and held in an immigration detention centre pending his return to Canada.
Glendinning was escorted back to Vancouver by Australian authorities and was turned over to Delta police. He was immediately transported to Surrey provincial court where he was transferred into the custody of sheriffs for court processing.
Glendinning is facing charges from alleged incidents that took place several years ago.
He was first arrested by Delta police and charged in September 2010 after three alleged victims, both males and females, came forward. At that time he was facing six charges. In November of that year, Glendinning was arrested again and had three more charges added after two more alleged victims contacted investigators.
Glendinning, 63, had a decade-long affiliation with the Tsawwassen Amateur Baseball Association between 1985 and 1995.
