Letters: Garbage workers make my son’s day

Growing up, and as an adult, I never thought much of a garbage truck going by. That all changed a few years ago when our, now four-year-old, son noticed garbage and recycling trucks.

In the eyes of my child, Henry, the garbage man is the coolest person in the world!

Delta has the best team of recycle, garbage and green bin drivers and swampers out there. He waves at every truck and there hasn’t been a single driver that hasn’t returned a wave or a honk.

On Mondays we run around Tsawwassen following our favorite recycle man, Jaimie. He is one of Henry’s favourites. Henry has dressed as Jaimie and his truck for two Halloweens in a row. Jaimie takes the time to make Henry feel special every week, even though we slow him down. I never thought I would have so many pictures of garbage trucks on my phone, but I think Henry is right, they are pretty cool.

Thank you so much to every city worker out there who has taken the time to wave at us.

You make Henry’s Day!
