Residents are advised to avoid driving if possible and keep checking for updates.

All schools in the Delta School District will be closed today due to the snowfall which continued to accumulate Wednesday morning.

Schools are asking parents to stay tuned Thursday morning in case there are any more closures.

Meanwhile, the City of Delta notes that overnight crews and all available trucks were deployed throughout the night to salt and clear Priority 1 routes as snow continued to fall.

Delta's Ladner Works Yard had been fully stocked for the winter season with 1,300 metric tonnes of salt.

The North Delta Works Yard was also stocked with approximately 1,300 metric tonnes of salt.

As well, the city was securing a contract with Mainroad Contracting that guarantees up to an additional 3,000 metric tonnes of road salt for this season, which in conjunction with the 2,600 metric tonnes available in Delta’s salt sheds, would provide a total salt availability of 5,600 metric tonnes.

According to the latest from Environment Canada, we'll have snow, heavy at times, today and then rain with the possibility of it mixed with snow on Thursday.
