Delta throwback: A view of the village

The new waterfront strategy is viewed as a key element of village revitalization, but how long will it take for substantial redevelopment to occur remains to be seen

That year saw an urban renewal plan approved, aimed at the complete redevelopment of downtown Ladner.

In the decades since, there have been only a few changes, despite what seemed like endless talk and planning.

After several other attempts at revitalizing failed to bring about desired change, the City of Delta created the Ladner Village Renewal Advisory Committee. Its 35 recommendations paved a way for a new waterfront and village Official Community Plan amendments that could see big changes in the coming years.

The new plan garnered much support but also opposition by those who aren’t in favour of the changes, particularly allowing bigger building heights in the village.
