Let’s go back to January of 1968 when a local square dancing club held an event at Delta Community Hall.
Members of the Tunnel Town Twirlers held a dance to raise money for the Ladner Farm Training Centre on Benson Road in East Ladner.
They later presented a cheque totalling $46.50 to centre president Irv Grant.
The dance club at the time club got together and held classes at the community hall every Tuesday. They put the word out that they were looking for new members.
They were under the auspices of the Delta Recreation Commission.
The hall burned down a month later.
