As expected, Halloween was a busy night for Delta police officers.
Department spokesperson A/Sgt. Sarah Swallow said the majority of calls were related to youths getting into mischief and fireworks, and officers pulled over several impaired drivers.
However, one man is facing assault charges after an alleged stabbing at a home in North Delta.
Officers were called to the home in the 8500-block of Arpe Road at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to witnesses, the victim, an 18-year-old man, and the suspect got into an argument that spilled over into the driveway of the home and escalated until the suspect stabbed the man once with a knife.
“The suspect fled but was located and arrested without incident shortly afterwards by patrol officers on the way to the home,” Swallow said.
The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition.
The suspect, 18-year-old Clayton Pogue, is facing a charge of aggravated assault. He appeared before a judge Sunday and was released on bail with conditions to have no contact with the victim and a curfew.
He is scheduled to appear in court again later this month.
