A Blessing of the Animals will be held at Ladner United Church this Sunday.
The brief service will see people bring their pets up to the front of the church to be blessed by Rev. Jim Short. All pets are welcome.
Dogs should be on a leash while cats, reptiles, spiders and birds should be in their appropriate cages or containers.
"For those who are unable to bring their pet, please feel free to bring a picture or other representation of that pet. Stuffed toys are always a safe and welcome surrogate," the church's newsletter notes.
This is being done in honour of Saint Francis of Assisi, who is known as the patron saint of animals and the environment.
The blessing takes place Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ladner United Church, 4960-48th Ave.
