Man distracts clerk while accomplice steals liquor

The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the previous week:

Tsawwassen

Jan. 12, 7:22 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: A business reported that a male and female entered the store and as the clerk was assisting the male with the liquor in the walk-in cooler, the female selected three bottles of liquor and left without paying. Video surveillance stills of the female will be distributed for possible arrest.

Jan. 12, 7:45 p.m., 12th Avenue and 56th Street: A vehicle travelling westbound on 12th Avenue and a vehicle turning north to 56th Street from 12th Avenue collided. There were no independent third party witnesses to corroborate the conflicting reports of what happened. A motor vehicle accident report was forwarded to ICBC.

Jan. 13, 3:35 a.m., 1600-block of Golf Club Drive: Police observed a vehicle regularly driven by a driver known to be prohibited. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver sped away through a red light onto Highway 17. The vehicle was located abandoned and was towed from the scene by Roadway for safekeeping and further investigation.

Jan. 15, 4:51 p.m., Beach Grove: Complainant left her vehicle parked overnight in front of her residence and when she returned to the vehicle in the morning she found the rear driver's side window had a hole in it, possibly from a BB gun.

Jan. 17, 5:16 a.m., Pebble Hill area: Police attended a residence to mediate a dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. While at the residence, the complainant turned over a freezer bag of drugs and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia for destruction.

Ladner

Jan. 14, 3:46 p.m., 5700-block of Ladner Trunk Road: A business reported it was holding two wallets found by customers during the last several days. Police attended and recovered a gray case with various ID and credit cards as well as a wallet with a large amount of cash and various ID cards. Neither party had reported the property stolen. Police contacted both parties via telephone and the property will be lodged in exhibits until claimed.

Jan. 16, 2:45 p.m., Hawthorne Park area: Complainant reported the garage door of a neighbouring residence had been left open since the previous day. Police attended and further investigation revealed the inside garage door was also insecure. While police were on the scene, the owner's son arrived and advised that his father had left the residence and must have forgotten to close the door.
