The former Tsawwassen resident who fled the country in the face of several sex-related charges was arrested last week in Australia.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Jamieson Richard (Rick) Glendinning back in June after he failed to appear in court. He was spotted in Australia earlier this month and Delta police confirm he was arrested in Sydney last Friday.

Glendinning is facing nine charges, including indecent assault, gross indecency, sexual exploitation and sexual assault, from alleged incidents that took place several years ago.

He was first arrested by Delta police and charged in September 2010 after three alleged victims came forward. At that time he was facing six charges.

In November of that year, Glendinning was arrested again and had three more charges added after two more alleged victims contacted investigators.

At the time, Delta police said the victims, both males and females, were elementary and high school aged at the time of the alleged assaults.

Glendinning, 63, had a decade-long affiliation with Tsawwassen Amateur Baseball Association between 1985 and 1995.

"He is currently being remanded in an immigration centre in Sydney and Delta police, along with Crown counsel, are making arrangements for his return," said department spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan.
