Surrey RCMP have released a tragic update on the investigation of a missing Surrey woman.

Surrey RCMP have released a tragic update on the investigation of a missing Surrey woman.

In a news release, issued Friday morning, RCMP say that a 42-year-old woman reported missing on Feb. 12, has been located deceased in Delta.

Surrey RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Vanessa Munn said in the news release that criminality is not believed to be a factor in her death.

“We offer our sincerest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased,” said Munn.

Delta Police Acting Insp. James Sandberg told the Optimist Delta Police responded to a report of found human remains in the Fraser River on March 13.

“Foul play is not suspected. Identity could not be immediately confirmed, and the matter was referred to the British Columbia Coroner’s Service,” said Sandberg.

He said the car of the deceased was found abandoned on Alex Fraser Bridge on Feb. 12.

The Optimist is not publishing the name of the deceased out of respect and privacy of the family.
