Delta South MLA Vicki Huntington will present four Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals this Saturday to recognize outstanding local accomplishments to the community.

The medal is awarded to individuals that have improved the well-being of their community and represent Canada's mosaic of individual experiences and accomplishments.

"We are blessed with so many talented neighbours who are wholly devoted to Delta," says Huntington.

"I think, more than anything, the honour in receiving Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee Medal is the recognition that one is standing with a remarkable community that goes above and beyond for the benefit of all."

The recipients were selected by a panel chaired by Huntington and include:

. Susan Jones - A strong voice for preserving South Delta's quality of life, Jones has provided years of leadership and tireless environmental stewardship with the Boundary Bay Conservation Committee, the Western Canada Wilderness Committee and the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust.

. James Ingram - Having provided exemplary service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, NATO and Delta police, Ingram volunteers with the Lions Club, TOOBS, the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and the Royal Canadian Legion.

. Andy Basi - A promoter of public health, Basi has spread his years of volunteerism between Delta Community Health, the Delta Secondary PAC, the South Asian Advisory Committee of the Canadian Cancer Society, Diversity Canadian Cancer Society, the Delta Hospital Foundation, the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society and the B.C. High School Bhangra Competition Society.
