North Delta Crime Beat: Thief racks up hefty clothing purchases with stolen credit card

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Aug. 15, 1000 Block of Derwent Way: A business reported the theft of a 40-foot flat-deck semi-trailer valued at $10,000. Unknown when theft occurred as trailer had not been on the road since 2015. Information regarding trailer added to the Canadian Police Information Centre.

*Aug. 16, 500 Block of Annacis Court: A business reported the theft of the front license plate from a Peterbilt tractor trailer left in the parking lot of the business. License plate number added to the Canadian Police Information Centre.

*Aug. 18, 8300 Block of 112th Street: A business reported a suspect had entered the business and selected four packs of Red Bull and left without paying. The male left the area on an orange mountain bike. Suspect described as male, 25 to 30 years of age, six-feet tall, slim build, short beard, and wearing a green jacket, white shorts, and black shoes. Photo of the suspect to be obtained from video surveillance.

*Aug. 19, 10600 Block of Dunlop Road: A complainant reported their credit card was used to make two fraudulent purchases at Aritzia and Sephora for a total of $2,780. The complainant last used their credit card at a service station. Police attended the service station but nothing appeared to be suspicious. Bank immediately informed of the compromise. The credit card cancelled and the full amount refunded by the bank.

*Aug. 20, 7300 Block of 120th Street: A business reported two males had entered the store and loaded two boxes containing an electric scooter and an electric bicycle with a total value of $1,900 into shopping carts and left the store without paying. Photos of the suspects obtained from video surveillance and will be disseminated for possible identification.

*Aug. 20, 11110 Block of 90th Avenue: A complainant reported they had left their vehicle unlocked overnight and in the morning found the trunk, driver side door, and the rear door wide open. Items stolen include a cell phone charger, Apple ear buds, USB cord, sunglasses, and a blanket with total value of $300. Attempt to track the Apple ear buds unsuccessful.

*Aug. 21, 11600 Block of 80th Avenue: A complainant reported the theft of their black 2015 Dodge Charger from their driveway. Police advised the vehicle was locked and both sets of car keys accounted for. Police attended the scene but observed no signs of broken glass.  Complainant indicated their wallet had been left in the car. Information regarding the vehicle entered in the Canadian Police Identification Centre.

*Aug. 21, 8100 Block of 120th Street: An employee reported two males stole a mattress and two televisions from the business. The suspects loaded the stolen items into a green Ford Escape and left the area heading towards 80th Avenue. Police attended and found the vehicle was stolen from Surrey and had been used earlier in the day in a robbery in Vancouver. Incident still under investigation.

*Aug. 22, 7900 Block of 117th Street: A complainant reported the theft of 20 plants from their driveway sometime in the evening. The plants valued at $400 were in pots of various sizes and colours. A canvass of the neighborhood by police proved negative.
