Optimist readers outside of Delta certainly voiced their opinion regarding our latest online poll.

In our biggest response yet, nearly 1,300 readers participated in our poll question that ran March 22-28: “Should B.C. keep the COVID-19 vaccine passport?”

A whopping 82 percent opted for “No, it is time to end all restrictions and start a return to normal.” The remaining 18 percent chose “Yes, it has been an effective tool to keep our restaurants, theatres and sports events open.”

Of the 1,298 responses, just 159 came from within the community. The Toronto area actually accounted for 180 of the votes while 37 more came from Kelowna.

When the local vote only is factored, 62 percent was in favour of keeping the passport. It will be ending on April 8.

Results are based on an online study of adult Delta Optimist readers that are located in Ladner. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 2.64%, 19 times out of 20.
