Police can't find trace of alleged intruder

The following are some of the calls of interest the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Monday, July 8 and Friday, July 12: Tsawwassen  July 11, 11:52 a.m., 1A Avenue and 52A Street: Police were called to report that an intoxicated man was drinking beer and talking to himself while walking on 1A Avenue. The suspect was located nearby, admitted to consuming three beers and stated he was looking for the ferry terminal. Being without money, he was transported to the Front Room and given a place to sleep for the evening.

July 11, 2:20 p.m., 1300-block of 56th Street: A taxi driver reported that he had taken a passenger from Richmond to Tsawwassen and she had no money to pay the fare. The lady was unable to contact anyone for assistance in paying the $68 fare. The taxi driver was advised to pursue the matter civilly if the passenger did not follow up on her promise to contact him and provide payment.

The lady was advised that a charge of fraud would be forwarded to Crown counsel for opinion and she may be contacted by way of summons.

July 12, 10:50 p.m., 400-block of Allen Drive: Complainant reported that a male youth was passed out on the street. Police located the young man, highly intoxicated but uninjured. Upon loading the suspect's backpack, a strong odour of marijuana was detected. A bag of marijuana and related equipment was seized. The youth was transported home to his parents who agreed to take custody of the boy.

Ladner July 8, 11 p.m., River Road and Huston Road: During a roadblock a driver stated that he did not have his driver's licence with him. A query revealed he was prohibited from driving in B.C. as he had been issued a 90-day suspension in June. He was arrested and the vehicle was impounded.

July 9, 1:04 a.m., 5600-block of Grove Avenue: Complainant reported that a male was banging on a railing outside his house and calling for help. Police located the suspect who claimed that an intruder had entered his home and banged on his bedroom door. The man appeared dazed and confused and there was no sign of forced entry. Both an area patrol and a canine unit search proved negative.

July 9, 10:58 a.m., 7700-block of Vantage Way: Complainant reported that two pieces of luggage containing clothing and toiletries were stolen from the front of the building between 10:30 10:45 a.m. Report taken for insurance purposes.

July 12, 12:59 p.m., 5100-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant phoned to advise that while he was in the bank he observed a young male stealing his bike and heading east on Ladner Trunk Road. The victim yelled at the thief but was not able to stop the theft.
