I attended the public hearing at Delta City Hall on April 22 concerning the proposed new Official Community Plan (OCP).

After the period allotted for comments from the public, the council present voted unanimously in favour of the new OCP, without any amendment.

It was then obvious that the council had made up its mind long before the public hearing. The public hearing was just a bit of theatre, designed to create the illusion that the council cared about public opinion and suggestions for improving the OCP.

Real public consultation in the Province of BC and the City of Delta is now dead. The damage to communities in Delta (Ladner, Tsawwassen, North Delta) is just beginning.
