The body of an elderly Ladner man who went missing Saturday was found Monday afternoon.

The search for 87-year-old Edward Lysyk came to an end at around 3 p.m. after his body was found in a field not far from the 3800-block of Arthur Drive, where he was last seen.

His body was found by a police helicopter conducting an air search.

"At this time, Delta police do not believe that foul play is involved in this investigation," said Delta police Const. Ciaran Feenan.

Police and the B.C. Coroners Service are currently investigating to determine the cause of death.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Lysyk was reported missing from a local care home on Saturday.

He was last seen at around 3 a.m. that day after being returned to his room for the night.

"When Mr. Lysyk could not be located at the residence throughout the day, staff from the care home called police as they were concerned for his well being," Feenan said.

He had recently moved to Ladner from Richmond.

On Saturday, Delta police, with help from Surrey Search and Rescue, conducted an extensive search of the area on foot.

Officers brought in K-9 teams and used thermal imaging technology to help in the search. Officers searched throughout the night and into Sunday morning.

"The Delta police are very concerned for Mr.

Lysyk's well being and are continuing their efforts to locate him," Feenan said on the weekend.
