Police presence douses Beach Grove bonfire

The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the previous week: Tsawwassen

April 18, 4:50 a.m., 900-block of 51st Street: Complainant heard a "clunk" sound at the south side of his home. After going outside and investigating, he observed police in the area and the interior light of his vehicle was on. Police revealed a suspect(s) gained entry to the vehicle by punching out the driver's door lock cylinder and then went through papers in the console, stealing change from the ashtray. A forensic examination of the vehicle was conducted and after canvassing the area, police found a possible video nearby that will be used to identify suspects.

April 18, 10:13 a.m.: Complainant phoned police to advise that an unknown suspect smashed the driver's window of her car and stole a GPS and some loose change.

April 18, 3:20 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Complainant reported that her vehicle had been keyed several times down the passenger side. There were no suspects or witnesses to the event.

April 18, 9:50 p.m., 17th Avenue and Braid Road: Complainant reported a group of about 50 youths screaming and yelling, "Lets go to the big bonfire." Police located a small group and a bonfire on the beach at Boundary Bay. The youths were cooperative, put out fire and left

the area. Bylaw tickets of $150 can be issued for any unlawful open air burning.

Ladner

April 14, 4 a.m., 5300-block of Paton Drive: Complainant advised that sometime overnight a suspect(s) removed a GPS from the centre console of his insecure car parked in the driveway. There was no video evidence and neighbourhood inquiries did not yield any witnesses.

April 14, noon: Complainant and her mother reported the complainant's friend

was posting pictures of the complainant on Facebook, Instagram and Tumbler, claiming the pictures as her own. This has been an ongoing issue between the complainant and her friend in which both sides have posted pictures and claimed ownership of them without the other's consent. All parties were advised to sit down, with or without police, and discuss the issues. They all agreed and wanted the issue resolved.

April 14, 3300-block of 53rd Street: Complainant observed two male youths playing with an electrical box on the Deltaport Way overpass. Police located the youths near the scene and when questioned, they both admitted to unplugging cameras that watch over the CN rail tracks. There was no damage to the box as it was left open. Youths' parents were advised of the incident and that they could possibly face a bill from CN for the incident.

April 15, 5 p.m., 4600-block of 51st Street: Complainant called to report that her son's bike had been stolen after being left locked in a bike rack. The bike is a black and white Trek 3500D mountain bike.

April 17, 5100-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant contacted police to report that she lost her wallet in the parking lot of Save-On-Foods. All items from the wallet to be added to police databases.
