The BC Teachers’ Federation is calling on the province to ensure in-school vaccination clinics are offered as part of the school-aged vaccine rollout.

The number of schools in Delta that have had recent COVID-19 exposures is now at 14.

That number is according to the latest update on school exposures on Fraser Health’s website.

Several of the schools have had multiple exposures notices including Pinewood Elementary, which had three notifications last week and one this Friday afternoon.

The exposures at that school occurred May 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 17, 18 and 19.

Two of the notifications last week at Pinewood involved one class.

The first follow-up notification to parents for their children to isolate for 14 days, after the last date of exposure, was followed by a second follow-up notification a couple of days later.

That second notification was issued last weekend, but only some of the parents of kids in that class were sent the second follow-up notification instructing them to isolate their children for longer.

The FHA this week told the Optimist an outbreak has not been declared for the school.

The other schools on the latest list heading into the long weekend include South Delta Secondary (May 12, 13, 14), Brooke Elementary (May 11, 12), Burnsview Secondary (May 4, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17), Chalmers Elementary (May 6, 7, 10, 11), Delview Secondary (May 12), Gibson Elementary (May 11),  North Delta Secondary (May 6, 11), Richardson Elementary (May 6, 7, 12, 13), Sands Secondary (May 10, 11), Seaquam Secondary (May 10, 13), Sunshine Hills Elementary (May 6, 7), Immaculate Conception (May 13, 14) and Southpointe Academy (May 10, 11, 12, 13).

The Delta school district issued a notice to parents that youth ages 12 and over can now register to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

If a parent or guardian has a vaccine appointment booked for themselves already, they can also take their children with them to get vaccinated at the same time.
