South Delta Crime Beat: $15,000 in property stolen while residents on holiday

The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the previous week:

Tsawwassen

• Nov. 23, 7:33 p.m., 1200-block of Beach Grove Road: Complainant reported theft of secured planter from deck railing of local business sometime overnight. Approximate value of planter: $150. 

• Nov. 23, 4:10 p.m., 5000-block of Canoe Pass Way: After reviewing CCTV footage, local business reported theft of Google Pixel 2XL cell phone worth $1,159. Footage captured an unknown male wearing a black shirt and carrying a black back pack rip phone from the display. Video reviewed for identification.

• Nov. 25, 12:40 p.m., 5200-block of 4A Avenue: Complainant reported a break and enter at their residence while away on vacation sometime between mid- to late-November.  Residence was accessed through an unsecure front window. Approximately $15,000 in property stolen, including a purse containing credit/gift cards and personal identification.  Area canvassed.

• Nov. 26, 9:15 a.m., 5400-block of 8A Avenue. Complainant reported fence boards had been knocked down in front yard sometime overnight. Resident has had multiple occurrences of fence being damaged over past few weeks. 

• Nov. 26, 4:40 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: After reviewing video footage, report received of theft of alcohol from local business. Female suspect was confronted by staff and left store with bottle of vodka worth $30 concealed in purse. Suspect identified as 50-year-old female wearing a bejeweled ball cap. Video provided to police for identification.

Ladner

• Nov. 25, 9:47 a.m., 4900-block of Chisholm Street: While investigating a report of identity fraud, police became aware of another unreported credit card fraud that occurred at local business. Investigation revealed two females had made a food purchase of $140 and a Keno machine purchase of $160 using the stolen credit card data. Owner of credit card was unaware card had been compromised. Reviewing CCTV footage for identification.

• Nov. 24, 1:44 p.m., 5200-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant received report of identity theft from local pharmacy that an unknown person had used their lost personal health number to fill a prescription worth $47.19. Police seized forged script from physician’s office and copy of receipt. Complainant advised to monitor accounts closely.

• Nov. 25, 9:11 a.m., 5000-block of 47th Avenue: Complainant reported 3,500-watt, grey Hyundai generator valued at $450 was stolen from side of residence.
