South Delta Crime Beat: Nine teens allegedly steal items from Mills Mall store

Tsawwassen

*June 20, 1200 block of Hunter Road: Complainant reported the attempted theft of their vehicle after the alarm on the vehicle went off at approximately 3 a.m. No access gained to vehicle, but minor pry marks to the rear trunk area were observed.

*June 23, 5000 block of Canoe Pass Way: Nine teens entered a business in groups of three.  All were wearing similar white or light hoodies, dark pants, and carrying backpacks and bags. They appeared to be organized; moving through the store in groups of three so as to confuse the security system. When the group left the staff found $350 of discarded tags.  Security video will be examined for possible identification of the suspects.

*June 24, 1700 block of Braid Road: Complainant reported the fraudulent use of their credit card, for a total of $500, over the past several months in New Brunswick and Baghdad. A new credit card was ordered several months ago and the complainant believes it was intercepted in the mail. Reimbursement expected from the financial institution.

*June 26, 12th Ave. and Beach Grove Road: A citizen reported finding a Samsung cell phone, house keys, a bottle of vodka, and other small items while out on a walk. Police queried the cell phone number with no results. The items were turned into DPD headquarters in Ladner.

*June 26, 1200 block of 56th Street: Two males stole fragrance packs, an electric tooth brush, and headphones from a local business. The suspects were described as white, 20 to 30 years of age, wearing black hats and shirts. Surveillance video to be examined for possible identification of suspects.

*June 26, 5100 block of Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported observing a dog in a white Tesla with all windows closed parked in a business parking lot. Outside temperature was 28 degrees. Police responded and they informed the complainant that the Tesla features a timed electric climate control.

Ladner

*June 20, 7100 block of Progress Way: An employee reported that one of the company’s cars parked at the rear of the business had the catalytic converter stolen sometime over the weekend. A saw blade and a grinder wheel located nearby were seized by the police.

*June 20, 7700 block of Vantage Way: A business reported the theft over the weekend of a catalytic converter cut from a truck and eight truck tires with wheels. Access to the area was through a hole cut in the fence surrounding the business. The tires, valued at $1,700, are described as Bridgestone with black rims.

*June 21, 7300 block of Highway 17:  A vehicle travelling at 140 km/h was stopped by police. The driver was charged with driving at excessive speed and the vehicle impounded.

*June 20, 4500 block of Clarence Taylor Crescent: A City of Delta employee reported a flag pole bearing a Progress Pride flag was cut down. The pole was found lying on the ground.   Surveillance video showed an unknown person wearing all black cutting down the pole.  The suspect then left the area on a bicycle northbound on the footpath behind the Ladner Leisure Centre.

*June 22, 7600 block of Vantage Way: A report was received of the theft of 50 litres of fuel from a fleet truck parked at the back of a business. Video surveillance revealed a white pickup truck pulling up to the property.

*June 24, 3400 block of Highway 17: Police observed a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed near the Deltaport Way on ramp. The rear police radar displayed a speed of 148 km/h. The motorcycle was stopped and the driver charged with excessive speed and the vehicle impounded. The driver left the scene in a taxi.
