Fraser Health announced last week that Tom Kim has been appointed to its board of directors by the provincial government.

Kim is the director of finance and operations at Tsawwassen’s Southpointe Academy, an independent K to 12 university preparatory school.

Prior to this position, Kim was the president of The Art Institute of Vancouver where he started as campus director in 2004. Under his direction as president, the school unified four smaller locations into one campus centered on academic excellence.

“Tom’s experience and his commitment to operational efficiencies to ensure the greatest value is delivered will be an asset in his new role as he supports the Fraser Health board in its focus of sustainable, cost-effective and quality patient care,” said Health Minister Terry Lake.

“Fraser Health welcomes Tom and looks forward to working with him as we continue to make strides in providing the best care for patients and their families,” said board chair Karen Matty. “His professional experience will strongly support our work in providing optimal services to the patients and families we serve.”

The board consists of nine directors appointed by the provincial minister of health to provide governance and vision for Fraser Health. It works with management to establish overall strategic direction, reviews long-term plans and ensures appropriate community consultation.
