Technical glitch results in some heated phone calls

The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the previous week:

Tsawwassen

Jan. 28, 12:58 a.m., 4900-block of 12th Avenue: Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on 12th Avenue. The officer pulled over the vehicle and found the driver in possession of a Class 7 licence, had slurred speech and an odour of alcohol on his breath and person. When asked for his driver's licence, the driver gave police his credit cards instead. The driver provided a breath sample that indicated he had alcohol in his system, contrary to his driver's licence restrictions. The driver was issued a 12-hour driving suspension and a violation ticket for driving contrary to restrictions. The driver's mother retrieved the vehicle and drove her son home.

Jan. 28, 2300-block of 52nd Street: The complainant reported ongoing damage to the front lawn of the home from vehicles backing onto it and causing holes and tire marks. Complainant unable to provide any suspect information. File created for information and insurance purposes. Complainant advised to call back if suspect vehicle information is obtained.

Jan. 29, 2:33 a.m., 1600-block of Farrell Crescent: Officer observed a pick up truck speeding on 56th Street. The truck was stopped and the driver identified. During the conversation, the driver admitted to consuming one beer before driving. The driver provided two breath samples in two separate screening devices and received a "warn" reading in both instances. The driver was issued a threeday immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for three days.

Ladner

Jan. 28, 11:31 p.m., Cove Links area: Complainant reported receiving a menacing phone call from a male who alleged the complainant was harassing him via repeated phone calls. Police followed up with the subject of the complaint who had indeed received five phone calls from the complainant's phone number. He admitted calling the complainant and angrily telling him to stop calling. Both parties agreed there appeared to be a technical problem with the line and they should speak with their service providers. Both parties satisfied that neither party was to blame for the situation.
