The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in South Delta and other files of interest. Tsawwassen

Dec. 27, 1600 Block of Enderby Avenue: Complainant reported that they left their vehicle parked overnight in front of their residence, and when they returned in the morning, it had been rummaged throughout. Items missing include the vehicle insurance documents. Police attended and located surveillance video, which showed an unidentifiable white vehicle parked near the complainant’s vehicle at the time of the theft. 

Dec. 27, 5000 Canoe Pass Way: A business reported two females and a male shoplifting.  The complainant did not observe the theft but was alerted by the security machine beeping as the suspects left the store. Police attended, but the suspects were gone on arrival. Total items stolen were valued at $193.50.

Dec. 30, 5500 Block of 18th Avenue: Complainant reported a break and enter at their storage locker. The locks to their unit had been removed, and various Milwaukee tools, and a Traeger smoker valued at $2,000 was stolen. Police recovered the tools as well as various other stolen items that were listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The stolen items were returned to the complainant.

Dec. 31, 5500 Block of 1st Avenue: A report was received that some of the Christmas display items in Diefenbaker Park had been damaged by vandals. The items were fixed, and now back on display. No surveillance video or suspects available. Approximate damage was $200.

Ladner

Dec. 27, 7900 Block of Huston Road: A business reported the theft of 60 pallets valued at $900. Police attended and spoke with the complainant, who indicated the pallets were standard with no way of identifying them. Police viewed surveillance video but identification of the two suspects was not possible as their faces are covered, and too far from the cameras.

Dec. 27, Police Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported he was randomly messaged by a female, and the two started an online dating relationship.  The female convinced him to deposit a very large sum of money into a Bitcoin App. After making the deposit, the “website” demanded a 25 per cent cut for income purposes. At this point complainant became concerned he was the victim of fraud, and deleted all conversations with the female, and deleted the app. Police advised the complainant to contact his bank, and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center. 

Dec. 28, 4700 Block of 53rd Street: Complainant reported they had two bicycles stolen from the underground parkade in their apartment complex. Both bikes were left locked in the parkade community bike rack. The bicycles were described as $1,100, turquoise, Liv Flourish Hybrid Cruiser, and a $500 cream colored CCM cruiser bike. No surveillance video available in the parkade. The complainant was provided with a file number for insurance purposes.

Dec. 31, 4400 Block of 80th Street: Complainant reported an abandoned Cube Ford Van illegally parked off the side of the overpass. The van was empty and did not appear to have any damage. The rightful owner of the vehicle, a business in Surrey, confirmed the van was stolen from where it was parked for the night. Van processed by identification services and will be retrieved by Surrey RCMP.
