Ray Burr, field representative for General Paint Corp. of Canada, put the finishing touches on the paint and accessories display in the showroom of White’s Paint Store at the Tsawwassen Shopping Centre.

Let’s head back to the April 1966 pages of the Delta Optimist to check out another newly opened business from yesteryear.

White’s Paint Shop celebrated its grand opening at the Tsawwassen Shopping Centre, offering advice and materials for the do-it-yourself decorators.

The business featured a complete line of paint, tile and wall coverings “at Vancouver department store prices.”

Also owning a contracting operation, owner Max White said the shop was primarily dedicated to serving the needs of those who wanted to do their own renovations.

White said he and his contractors offered professional advice based on his own years of experience as a painting contractor, who successfully dealt with problems varying from painting a kitchen to large industrial plants.

White, a member of the Master Painters and Decorators Association of BC, said the wall coverings displayed at his store made it obvious they are “in” this year.

Other businesses at the Tsawwassen Shopping Centre at that time were Shop-Easy, Edwards Sportswear, The Sportsman, Porter's Hardware, The Decorama, Holiday Bakery & Delicatessen, Dennis Drugs and the Cavalier Shoppe.
