Throwback: Delta ideal place to live, says new store manager

The store advertised reasonable monthly terms were available for top-quality home furnishings

Let’s take a trip back to April 1970 to check out another business that celebrated its formal opening in Ladner Village.

Comfort Home Furnishings Ltd., formerly Neef’s Home Furnishings, was located on 48th Avenue.

The store expanded its furnishing lines including chesterfield suites, draperies, carpeting, wallpaper, chairs, bedding, appliances, sewing machines, oil paintings, sculptures, lamps televisions and stereos and more.

Manager Tom Hoffman, 27, told the Optimist that he chose to come from Fernie, B.C. to work at the revamped store because he liked Delta’s economic prospects.

“This is an ideal place to live,” he said.

“It has a small community touch, although it is one of the fastest growing areas of the Lower Mainland.”
