Delta police are reminding residents to ensure their windows and doors are locked and secured after a pair of residential break-ins that occurred overnight within 24 hours.

According to police, in one incident, the suspect was observed at approximately 4:55 a.m. rummaging through a storage/garage at a home on Faber Cres., but was scared off by the complainant when he yelled out. The suspect left behind a couple of sweaters that have been seized for forensic examination. No theft occurred in this case.

In the second instance, in the late night/overnight hours of Dec. 28/29 an unknown suspect gained entry to a residence on Kent Cres. The suspect gained entry through a laundry room door from the carport stealing a variety of items including a computer and iPhone.

Although these incidents are similar they have not been linked, however, investigations into these incidents are ongoing.

“It is suggested to have exterior lights on around your property to discourage those that would gain entry under the dark of night,” said a release from DPD. “Delta police also encourage citizens to call and report any suspicious person or activity anytime. Working together is an important key in our effort to maintaining the safety of our community.”
