AAA all-stars on big roll

Ladner Mosquito team wins pair of tournaments

The Ladner Mosquito AAA all-star team has been on a roll this summer, winning both tournaments it's entered.

The boys won the annual Boulanger tourney in Cloverdale over the Canada Day weekend and then came back two weeks later to capture the Valley of Champions in Kelowna.

In the Okanagan, the team went a perfect 6-0, including a hard fought

win over Okotoks, Alberta in the final. With exceptional pitching by Simon Raderecht and Matt Wilkinson, and excellent fielding behind them, Ladner prevailed 10-3. The win was made even more special by the fact the Okotoks squad is a

year-round travelling team that had not been beaten in three years. Ladner beat the Albertans twice in Kelowna.

The local boys are hoping to secure a berth in the provincials over the B.C. Day weekend in Cloverdale.

The roster includes: Jakob Wegner, Cole

Morgan, Matt Wilkinson, Jordan Sanders, Branden Phillips, Sevak Jassor, Nicolas Listro-Smith, Simon Raderecht, Joshua Bermel, Dayton Jones, Braedy Euerby, Aiden Wood and Tyler Rooyakkers. Head coach Bonnie Wegner is assisted by Dave Wood and Scott Euerby.
