For the first time in recent memory, the South Delta A1 Storm have swept the Fraser Valley tier one titles of the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association.

After clinching the regular season banner with a sparkling 15-3-2 record, the Storm went to work in the playoffs. The Final Four Championships featured South Delta up against Langley A1, Abbotsford A1 and Port Moody A1. The playdowns came down to a winner take all affair between the Storm and Port Moody. The locals built up a 4-0 lead and went on to a 4-2 victory.

Storm head coach Lawson "Boots" Boutilier says the championships were several years in the making, starting back when these players were part of South Delta Minor Hockey's grassroots program.

"This group of boys started in Initiation Hockey four or five years ago, as these began to develop we knew we had a talented group, that had the potential of being a very special team," he explained. "The boys' hard work and dedication to their team and training were rewarded by winning both tier one banners. It's a rare feat (for South Delta), one that hadn't been done in years."

Boutilier added he would like to personally thank the parents and coaches that believed in the process that led to the tremendous accomplishment.

The Storm roster includes: goalies - Braedy Euerby and Nelson Griffiths; defence men - Carson Hemenway, Russell Howlett, Bennett McKay, Matt Morison, Hayden Tuba and Ryan Watson; forwards - Chase Boutilier, Carter Krantz, Van Lupien, Carter McColman, Zac Sherwin, Alec Scouras, Rhys Porteous, Matt Willford and Max Yingling.

Scott Euerby, Pepe Picco and Jim Scouras round out the coaching staff. The team was managed by Nancy Morrison.
