Ladner baseball player Jackson Gooch is enjoying an outstanding season at Lamar Community College in Colorado.

The Delta secondary graduate is one of the team's top hitters with a .405 batting average that includes 11 home runs in 148 plate appearances. The centre fielder has started all 41 games.

The 6-foot-4, 210 pound sophomore recently committed to a scholarship at the NCAA Division One level at McNeese State University for his final two years of college eligibility. He is also eligible for the Major League draft in June.

Gooch is one of three Canadians on Lamar's roster.

The division one junior college program is making a strong push to qualify for the upcoming Junior College World Series.

Gooch grew up through the Ladner Minor Baseball system before leaving to play in the B.C. Premier Baseball League where he was a one time teammate of current Toronto Blue Jays prospect Tom Robson. .
