Delta coastal sting metro club wins gold in Minnesota

The U-14 Delta Coastal Sting Metro girls' soccer team took gold in its group at the USA Cup in Blaine, Minnesota last week.

The U-14 Delta Coastal Sting Metro girls' soccer team took gold in its group at the USA Cup in Blaine, Minnesota last week.

The USA Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament in the Western Hemisphere and this year drew over a 1,000 teams from 17 countries, 17 states and six provinces. It is hosted at the National Sports Centre, the world's largest soccer facility, with 52 fields in

one location.

The Sting went 6-1 through the round robin and playoff portion of the tournament, culminated by a 3-0 victory over the Northern Lights Soccer Club from Minnesota in the championship match.

The players had to endure 100F temperatures most of the weeklong event but showed tremendous resolve, dedication and sportsmanship throughout, said coach Kevan

Cornes.

The Delta Coastal Sting includes: Evalyn Drefko-Roberge, Samantha Kaltenegger, Sydney Cervi, Kylie Robertson, Taylor Russell, McKenna Milos-Johnson, Ravneet Sandhar, Mary Allworth, Allison Scanks, Meghan Lindsay, Skye Moore, Samantha Lundquist, Riley Moore, Stephanie Pak, Maarja von Schulmann and Jamie Cornes.
