Mission accomplished! Delta Gymnastics attended last month's Great West Gym Fest in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and came away with the coveted Team Award. This is one of the largest meets in the western region and teams from all over the USA, Canada and beyond attended.

A Delta contingent of 16 athletes, ranging in ages from seven to 15, and four coaches participated in the four women events, including floor, vault, beams and uneven bars.

"Our goal was to win the Team Award and I am very proud to say, that we accomplished that goal!" said Jen Dober, Head Coach of Delta Gymnastics Women's Artistic Program. "The girls performances were incredible, they completed all of their routines flawlessly."

Other successes included a first place on vault, beam and floor and first all-around for Gracie Crawford in the Excel Silver category. First place on beam and floor and first all-around to Danae Wright in the Level 7 - Senior B category; and first place on floor, third on beam and first all-around for Darcy Schultz in the Level 7 Jr C category.

"One of the highlights of the weekend was attending the Ice Cream Social with Olympians," explained Dober. "The girls were able to meet Chellsie Memmel, the 2005 World All Around Champion and member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. It was very inspiring for them to have this opportunity to interact with Chellsie."

The team still has many meets coming up in their busy schedule of competitions, including the B.C. Championships in Prince George on April 5-10 and the annual Delta Invitational - May 1012 at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
