Goalie & forward get regional camp invites

Goaltender Nathan Alalouf and forward Mitch Walter are among 68 players from B.C. and Alberta that have been invited to the U17 Pacific Regional Summer Camp later this month in Kamloops.

B.C. Hockey and Hockey Alberta each identified 34 U17 male athletes (four goaltenders, 12 defencemen, 18 forwards) from their respective provincial evaluation camps to participate in the joint regional camp.

From the regional camp, players will be scouted with their club teams until November when the Team Pacific Management Committee announces the 22-player roster that will represent Team Pacific at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. That event is slated to start in late December in Victoriaville/ Drummondville, Quebec.

Alalouf and Walter are both South Delta Minor Hockey graduates who played this past season in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League with the Greater Vancouver Canadians.

The 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will bring together the top players in the world born in 1996 or later.

The tournament is made up of 10 teams: five from Canada and five international.
