When it comes to 1999-born lacrosse goalies, South Delta is a hotbed.

Team B.C., which finished second to Ontario at the recent Canadian Bantam Lacrosse Championships in Winnipeg, featured local products Justin Smith and Brody Harris in the crease.

Smith aged up to play this past season with the Midget A1 Islanders while Harris was between the pipes for the Bantam A1 squad.

The process to crack the Team B.C. roster began with over 100 players attending tryouts for four district teams. They all attended a main camp in Surrey where 68 were identified to for the final tryout where 18 runners and two goalies were selected.

At Nationals, Harris backstopped B.C. to a 7-6 double overtime win over Iroquois to secure second place in the round-robin standings. Three hours later, Smith was in net for a 5-3 semi-final victory, earning game MVP honours. Both stoppers received awards during the tournament.
