The Mighty Guns have done it again — capturing their third South Delta Men’s Hockey League “A” playoff championship in five years.

In front of a full house, the Mighty Guns skated to a 3-0 win over the Ladner Fishermen.

All games between the Fishermen and Guns were very close this past year and the final was no exception. A tight checking and hard-fought battle was not decided until the third period when the Fishermen took an untimely penalty that the Guns took full advantage of.

Their defense was led by the shutout goaltending of back-up Kyle Lescisin. The Guns received goals from the terrific trio of team captain Trevor Smith, Neil Grannary and Andrew Marchand.

In the “B” championship game, the Islanders avenged a dismal regular season, completing an unbeaten post-season by dismantling the Bruins 7-0.

The Islanders onslaught was led by Kyle Lappin and Aaron Maclellan who recorded a pair of goals each Team captain Rob Bogress, Amir Bath and rookie sensation Jordan Rodda completed the Islanders scoring.

Back up goalie Chad Johnson was stellar in the net and recorded his first shutout of the year.

The league executive graciously and enthusiastically thank Paisley Wallace for all her hard work and dedication to the league in the past five years. She is moving on the league wish all the best in the years to come. Other scoring officials who did a fantastic job included the legendary Len Kusch, Jamie, Jordan and Jade.

Special thanks to the great group of referees — led by Brad, Aaron, Gary and Glen — who all managed to keep the peace throughout the season.

Finally, the league would not be where it is today as one of the best in the Lower Mainland without the inspiring and passionate work of president for the past 10 years — Dave Espley.
