Delta Heat '99A girls fastpitch team enjoyed a busy and successful year.

This dedicated group of 13 girls from around the Lower Mainland took the gold medal in the U14A division at last month's Surrey Storm Tournament. Prior to that, the 99A Heat celebrated four other podium finishes - winning gold in North Delta and Surrey in June, silver at the South Delta tournament in early May and bronze at the Softball City Icebreaker Tournament in April.

Travelling to Seattle and Portland this season provided the team an opportunity to play some competitive softball on American soil and establish its presence south of the border.

The peak of the season came at the provincials, held in late July in Maple Ridge. With crafty coaching, strong pitching and timely batting the 99's got as far as semifinals before losing to eventual provincial champions Ridge Meadows Pride.

Right after the final game pitchers Logan Bailey and Carri-Anne Hoar left for Reno, Nevada to play for the Ridge Meadows Pride in a 150-team tournament.

They faced strong US teams in the week long event - playing two games a day. A whopping five game schedule on the Saturday saw the team eventually bow out to a strong opponent from California.

The Heat's roster also includes: Chloe Cartlidge, Ashley DeGrosseilliers, Janessa Hanson, Courtney Palleson, Kheya McGill, Jayde Robertsen, Sahiba Badh, Kennedy Bonner, Arnelle Basi, Taylor Whitty and Casey Gareau.

The coaches are Alex McElroy, Lyndsay McElroy and Bob Whitty.
