The Delta Ice Hawks are off to a 9-1 start this season.

The Delta Ice Hawks continue to impress in the early days of their 2023/24 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

After flying out of the gates with a 7-0 record, Delta dropped an 8-1 road decision to the North Vancouver Wolf Pack on Saturday night, Sept. 30.

Three nights later, the Ice Hawks rebounded with an impressive 7-2 home ice win over Port Moody and doubled down on that effort a night later winning 6-2 in Aldergrove to push their record to 9-1.

Delta is one-point up on rival Richmond Sockeyes in the Tom Shaw Conference standings.

Carson Merriman led the way on Tuesday with a hat trick and one assist while Micheal Romeo, Tye Hemenway, Colin Jang and Nicholas Kolb added single goals.

Zach Shaughnessy got the win in net stopping 20 of 22 shots.

On Wednesday night, the game featured a balanced offensive attack with six different Ice Hawks scoring – Conner Merriman, Mateo Sjoberg, Danylo Bereza, Hemenway, Jang and Romero.

Shaughnessy was once again solid between the pipes stopping 24 of 26 shots.

Delta heads to White Rock on Saturday for a game against the Whalers then return home for a Tuesday night contest against the Abbotsford Pilots. Game time is 7:35 p.m. at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
