The Ladner Pioneers opened their West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association quarterfinal series last night on the road against the Langley Warriors.

The game was past the Optimist's press deadline.

Game 2 in the best-of-three series goes tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Ladner Leisure Centre.

Ladner finished on top of the regular season standings with an 11-3 record but came into the playoffs having dropped their last two match-ups, both close games, against Nanaimo and North Shore. The team has secured home floor advantage throughout the playoffs.

Langley limped into the playoffs on a five-game losing skid. The Warriors' last victory came on June 11 and the club finished at the bottom of the regular season standings.

The Pioneers and Warriors met twice in the regular season with Ladner winning 14-7 late last month as well as 11-8 on July 2.
