Tsawwassen field hockey standout Sara McManus is wearing Canadian colours again, this time for the national junior team which is currently on tour in South America.
The Canadian squad has scheduled matches against Chile and powerhouse Leoncitas of Argentina - two of its main opponents for the upcoming Junior Pan American Championships in September. The tour marks the beginning of a heavy training phase for the Junior Women as they prepare for the Championships in Guadalajara, which also serve as a qualifier for the 2013 Junior World Cup.
The national team will face Mexico, June 18-20, in Surrey, followed by a tour of Europe from July 4-21. Canada will be tested against strong international teams including the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Spain.
McManus is also a full-time member of the senior women's national team, having earned 28 international caps with that squad. The 2011 South Delta secondary graduate also plays for UBC.
