Delta Islanders Midget "A" lacrosse team continued its impressive start to the season by capturing bronze at last weekend's Barn Burner Tournament in Ridge Meadows.
The Islanders went 2-1 in preliminary play before squaring off against Burnaby in the third place game. The penalty-filled contest saw the opposition rack up 67 minutes as Delta pulled away for an 8-3 victory.
Riley Taylor opened the scoring in the first period on a set-up from Trevor Snow. The pair then added goals in the middle stanza with Brendan Ancrum drawing an assist.
Delta then enjoyed a big third period with a pair of goals from Riley Phillips and singles from Brad Phillips, Kaden Janzen and Jared Beaton.
Goaltender Kyle Geere was outstanding throughout and collected player of the game honours.
The Islanders are also off to a solid start in league play with a 5-3 record to date.
This weekend, they head to Minoru Arena for Richmond Lacrosse's annual midget tournament.
