South Delta Warriors Midget "C" hockey team capped a memorable season by capturing the Delta Cup in dramatic fashion.

The Warriors earned the right to represent the south in the annual one game showdown after winning the Party in Da House Tournament back in January.

The cross-town clash, played at the Ladner Leisure Centre, lived up to the billing as the teams were deadlocked at 6-6 at the end of regulation time.

The five man shootout saw the Warriors connect on three of five attempts, while, thanks to the heroics of Curtis Robinson, the visitors scored just once. Doug Bailey had the clinching goal, while Jon Phillips and Garrett Leslie also scored.

South Delta never trailed in the contest, enjoying leads of 10, 4-2, 5-4 and 6-5, but its feisty opponent kept battling back. The tying goal was scored with just 27 seconds remaining and the North Delta goalie on the bench in favour of a sixth attacker.

Justin Dhah paced the Warriors attack with three goals. Travis Addison added a pair and Phillips had the other.

The team roster also includes: Nick Cleaver, Connor Griffin, PJ Jagpal, Jordan Letawsky, Garrett Leslie, Keiran Marquis, Jake Nolan, Stephen Ogilvie, Tyler Ogilvie, Peter Reimann (captain), Michael Schwabe, Cody Tunstall and Parker Wideski. The Warriors are coached by Steve Robinson and Keith Tunstall. The management crew includes Heather Wideski and Dennis Reimann.
