North Delta water polo standout Isabella Mady is leading her team to the upcoming nationals in Calgary.

The Grade 11 Burnsview Secondary student earned all-star and top scorer honours as the Fraser Valley Water Polo Club captured the National Championship League’s (NCL) 17U Western Conference Championship two weekends ago in Langley.

Mady was joined by teammates Vonzel Venntner (Surrey) and Alexandra Stoddard (Abbotsford) on the all-star team as Fraser Valley now prepares for the nationals, slated for May 25 to 27.

Earlier, Mady was also recognized as the top scorer in the regular season for Fraser Valley’s women’s team, scoring 45 goals in 19 games. She poured in another 100 goals with the 17U team in league play.

North Delta has been a gold mine for top water polo in recent years including 2020 Olympians Gurpreet Sohi and Hayley McKelvey. They took their university careers to the NCAA level, attending Stanford and USC respectively.
