A busy and successful season for the Winskill Otters Swim Club concluded at the Canadian Master Swimming Championships in Ottawa.
Elizabeth Smith and Kathy Graham made the most of their trek east establishing several Canadian, provincial and club records.
Smith, competing in the 65-69 age class, won all seven of her individual events, highlighted by a new Canadian record in the 200 metre freestyle (2:54.79). She was part of relay teams that set four new national marks. Smith added club records in the 50 free, 100 free, 400 free, 800 free, 100 back and 200 back Graham reached the record books in the 55-59 age category with new provincial marks in the 100 back (1:21.28) and 50 fly (34.46) which earned her first and second place respectively. She also set new club records in the 50 free, 200 back, 200 fly, 100 fly (split) and 400 IM.
Earlier the Otters had a number of outstanding swims at the B.C. Masters Championships. The individual results included: 18-24 Age Group Danielle Mageau: 50 breast (1st), 100 breast (2nd).
20-24 Age group Talia Leduc: 100 breast (1st), 200 breast (1st), 100 IM (2nd).
25-29 Age Group Aaron Henderson: 50 breast (2nd), 200 breast (2nd), 100 IM (3rd). Ben Keast: 50 breast (1st).
James Monk: 100 free (2nd), 200 free (1st), 400 free (1st), 800 free (1st), 100 back (1st), 100 fly (5th). David Payne: 50 free (1st), 100 free (1st), 50 fly (1st), 100 fly (1st).
30-34 Age Group Sofi Hindmarch: 100 free (2nd), 50 fly (1st). Dayna Tukutau: 50 back (1st), 100 back (2nd), 200 back (1st), 50 breast (2nd), 100 IM (2nd), 200 IM (2nd). Doug Jones: 50 free (2nd), 50 fly (4th), 50 breast (1st), 100 breast (1st), 100 IM (3rd).
35-39 Age Group Diana Thompson: 50 fly (1st), 50 back (1st), 100 back (1st), 100 IM (2nd). Hector Aragon: 50 free (2nd), 100 free (3rd), 50 fly (3rd), 50 breast (3rd), 100 breast (2nd), 200 breast (1st), 100 IM (4th).
45-49 Age Group Sam Goski: 1500 free (1st), 100 fly (1st), 400 IM (1st). Mika Sato: 50 free (2nd), 50 fly (1st), 50 breast (2nd).
50-54 Age Group Pauline Heaton: 50 free (8th), 100 free (5th), 200 free (5th), 50 breast (5th), 100 breast (3rd). Lynda Mageau: 50 breast (4th), 50 fly (6th).
